Dr. David Ainley
Dr. David Ainley received his doctorate in 1971 from John Hopkins University, Maryland. His PhD dissertation on Adelie penguins defined his early research and set the stage for his life's work on seabirds around the world for decades to come. Ainley served as the Marine Research Director at the Point Reyes Bird Observatory from 1971 to 1995, where he initiated the seabird monitoring program on the Farallon Islands National Wildlife Refuge. Dr. Ainley is a prolific writer and has published four books and written hundreds of scientific papers, which have contributed to his position as one of the most respected ornithologists in the world. Ainley conducts his professional research now through H.T. Harvey and Associates.
