Roy Irving
Roy Irving has been an employee of the National Park Service for 26 years and taught Environmental Studies at Sonoma State University from 1976 through 1980. He has been photographing birds for over 40 years, starting as a teenager with a 35mm rangefinder camera shooting captive birds at the Catalina Bird Farm. In 2003 he switched from 35mm film to Canon digital cameras and he will never go back to using film. Roy says the biggest advantage of digital cameras is, "Now I can afford to shoot 200 or 300 shots to get those 2 or 3 perfect photos of a bird in flight."
